Carlos Elliot Jr.
COLOMBIAN MISSISSIPPI HILL COUNTRY BLUES
Native from Colombian hills, Carlos Elliot Jr. is a Bluesman who has been inspired by the Mississippi Hill Country Blues and heritage found in African and Latin American music. Sensitive to the need to promote the preservation of ‘Mother Earth’ and ancient traditions, Carlos plays guitar and fife as the pioneer of the Hill Country Blues in South America.
Carlos’ music is a blend of his backgrounds, the beat of rural dance music of North Mississippi along with a self-discovered sense of spirituality in Blues music. He has experienced and lived the Blues right where it was born, playing with local legends. Through these, Carlos managed to permeate his already rich and diverse Colombian cultural roots with the power and the deep spiritual feeling of Blues music.
After his second record “Mystic Juke-Joint Blues” created in the heart of Mississippi with his U.S. based band The Cornlickers, last band of the legendary Bluesman Big Jack Johnson, Carlos is promoting his new record “RAISE THE FIRE AMERICA” as ‘Power Blues Duo’. it shows a strong connection between the rhythm and melody, inspired by the north Mississippi hill Country Blues, the Drums and Fife and some kind of fusions of Afro and Latino American rhythms.
Carlos lives in Colombia, South America, and keeps touring and participating in the North and South America scene.

CARLOS ELLIOT JR. AND THE COLOMBIAN BLUES SOCIETY REPRESENTING SOUTH AMERICA IN WHAT IS CONSIDERED THE MOST IMPORTANT EVENT IN THE NEW BLUES SCENE. JANUARY 21-25 ON HISTORICAL BEALE ST. IN MEMPHIS, TENNESSEE.
It does not mean we are the only group or artist in south America that plays the Blues and keeps keeping the Blues alive! In fact there is a prominent Blues scene emerging and a whole Blues tradition in the South part of our America. All the respect and admiration to those Blues troubadours all over the South side of the continent. For us is a great honor to take this first step with the support and supporting the newly-formed Colombian Blues Society, paving a way for South America in the United States Blues scene.
In Colombia all we're definitely paving a way in a country that does not have a tradition in Blues music but has been consolidated, strengthened and even converted in a new expression with an interesting blend of our own traditions. Many thanks to the Blues foundation, the new Colombian Blues Society, the different festivals, colleagues, artists, clubs, bars in our country and thanks to Centro Colombo Americano Cali. Special thanks to The Cornlickers, they're my friends and my U.S. based band with whom I recorded my latest production Mystic Juke-Joint Blues, and who I will be playing with in this coming U.S. tour and IBC big Blues event.
Thank y'all again!
